TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: 265 miles

Following an early morning Euro Tunnel you make your way to the capital of the Loire Valley, Orleans. Situated just a short distance from the town centre the hotel is perfectly located to explore the old town with its many bars and restaurants. There are also many historic sights to visit such as the fabulous Sainte Croix cathedral and the 19th century Joan of Arc statue.

Day 2: 289 miles
From Orleans your journey continues to the Auvergne region and to the largest regional nature park in France. This area regularly plays host to the Tour de France and today you ride a major section of the route as you journey through the park to your hotel which will become your base for the next three nights. Located in a small village your hotel features a gourmet restaurant, terrace and outdoor swimming pool.

Day 3 - 4: (supplied ride-outs 166 - 173 miles)
Over the next two days you will be able to explore the many fabulous biking roads which cross this area. The Tarn Gorge is amongst the suggested ride-outs which are supplied within your tour pack. This carefully planned ride-out will take you through the Cévennes National Park and along the gorge valley floor which lies 1,600 feet below the rim. The famous Millau Bridge is also only a short ride away and is well worth a visit. This British designed structure attracts thousands of tourists a year and is possibly one of the most breathtaking bridges ever built. The ride-outs can of course be mixed and matched to suit your individual preference.

Day 5: 212 miles
Reluctantly you have to leave this spectacular area and riding rural back roads make your way to the beautiful region of Burgundy. Burgundy is the spiritual heartland of two of France’s raisons d’être (food and wine). The vineyards are littered with some of the most prestigious names in French wine­ making and the area is renowned for its rich meaty cooking.

Located in the Maconnais Mountains and dating back to 1817 your hotel sits on the site of a former Benedictine Abbey. Surrounded by history, scenery and culture your hotel is perfectly located to explore the surrounding countryside and its many attractions, all of which are accessible along well maintained and quiet roads.

Day 6 -7 (supplied ride-outs 115 - 126 miles)
Burgundy is a region rich in history, culture and geography and the supplied ride-outs will enable you to explore the many fabulous biking roads which cross this area. Alternatively you can visit the nearby towns of Macon, Beaune or Lyon or spend a few hours visiting one of the many vineyards in the area.

Day 8: 168 miles
Following your stay in Burgundy you continue your journey north into the Champagne-Ardennes region and the beautiful town of Troyes. Troyes is the ancient capital of the Champagne-Ardennes region famous for its vineyards and the finest champagne. Located at the southern tip of the Champagne region and with narrow, cobbled streets and medieval half-timbered buildings, it is a picturesque town with a traditional French atmosphere. Today’s carefully planned route takes you through the Morvan Regional Park and includes the medieval town of Chatillon-sur-Seine and the ancient Abbaye de Fontenay at Montbard.

Day 9: 247 miles
Your final day is spent riding along the ‘Champagne Tourist Route’ before eventually joining the motorway system which takes you directly to Calais and an afternoon Euro Tunnel back to Folkestone. Euro Tunnel times are flexible and can be changed to suit individual requirements.

With an exceptional mix of French culture, fantastic biking roads and great accommodation this tour has no particularly high mileage days and therefore would be suitable for anyone

It is recommended that all clients take out appropriate Personal Travel, Accident and Breakdown cover. This is essential for repatriation of yourself and your motorcycle in the event of an accident or medical emergency.
