TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: 252 miles
Following an early morning Euro Tunnel crossing
you will make a quick transit through Northern France reaching Reims, the capital of the Champagne region by lunchtime. With no need to leave the bike unattended or even secure it the tunnel really is the fastest and most efficient way to travel to the continent.
Your journey continues through the vineyards of Bollinger and Laurent-Perrier as you head for your first overnight stay in the beautiful town of Troyes. With narrow cobbled streets and medieval half-timbered buildings this picturesque French town is just waiting to be explored.
Day 2: 180 miles
Today’s well planned route takes you to the Morvan Regional Park in the heart of Burgundy. En-route you can visit the town of Chatillon-sur-Seine, the Abbaye de Fontenay at Montbard and Saint-Brisson.
Situated in the Maconnais Mountains your hotel for the next three nights is perfectly located to explore the wonders of Southern Burgundy. This fantastic location provides the perfect base for you to enjoy the surrounding countryside and its many attractions, all of which are accessible along well maintained and quiet roads.
Day 3 - 4 - 5 (supplied ride-outs 115 - 126 miles)
Burgundy is a region rich in history, culture and geography and the supplied ride-outs will enable you to explore the many fabulous biking roads which cross this area. Alternatively you can visit the nearby towns of Macon, Beaune or Lyon or spend a few hours visiting one of the many vineyards in the area. Wine of course is one of the pillars of Burgundy with some of the most famous wines in the world being produced here.
Day 5: 215 miles
Today’s route begins by taking a north westerly direction through the Morvan Regional Park. This spectacular national park is criss-crossed with fantastic biking roads which rise and fall through a landscape of woodlands and low mountains passes.
En-route you can visit the unique Guédelon project in the Yonne department of Burgundy. The idea of the project is to build a complete 13th century castle using the same techniques and materials used in the Middle Ages. The wood, stone and earth needed for the castle's construction are all sourced locally. Watched by thousands of visitors and clad in traditional costumes, the quarrymen, stonemasons, woodcutters, carpenters, blacksmiths, tile makers, basket makers, rope makers, carters and their horses all work together to complete the castle.
Your journey continues as you follow the Loire River to the famous town of Orleans. Situated just a short distance from the town centre the hotel is perfectly located to explore the old town with its many bars and restaurants. There are also many historic sights to visit such as the fabulous Sainte Croix cathedral and the 19th century Joan of Arc statue.
Day 6: 265 miles
Following breakfast you head north along rural roads before eventually joining the motorway system back to Calais and the return Euro Tunnel crossing back to Folkestone. Euro Tunnel times are flexible and can be changed to suit individual requirements.
This fantastic self guided motorcycle tour has no particularly high mileage days and therefore would be suitable for anyone. If required you can always extend your holiday enabling you more time to explore these fabulous destinations.
INSURANCE
It is recommended that all clients take out appropriate Personal Travel, Accident and Breakdown cover. This is essential for repatriation of yourself and your motorcycle in the event of an accident or medical emergency.
