TOUR INFORMATION

This fantastic self guided tour brings together the culture and splendour of two of the best biking areas of France & Germany and with no particularly high mileage days would be suitable for anyone. The riding as always can be challenging but if you are an experienced rider or it is your first time on the continent this tour could be just what you are looking for.

TOUR ITINERAY

Day 1: 225 miles

Your day starts with an early morning Euro tunnel crossing from Folkestone. Immediately you arrive in Calais you take to the quiet back roads of France and head through small towns and villages and along tree lined roads which are so typical of this area.

Your destination for the evening is the beautiful town of Bouillon situated on the French, Belgium border. With the River Semois cutting through its heart and overlooked by the imposing Castle of Godefroy, Bouillon is the perfect place to start your motorcycle holiday.

Day 2: 195 miles
Leaving Bouillon behind you stick to rural back roads as you wind your way along the traffic free roads of the Forest d’Orval. Passing through picturesque villages and beautiful landscapes you see the terrain becoming more mountainous and forested as you enter the Vosges Mountains region of France.

En-route you have the opportunity to visit the Ossuaire De Douaumont at Verdun. This monument was built in remembrance of the 130,000 unknown soldiers whose remains lay at rest below this building. The absence of speed cameras and lack of traffic make for steady progress towards your next destination, Lake Gerardmer. Your hotel for the next two nights is located in Gerardmer town centre and is less than 300 metres from the Lake.

Day 3: (two versions of the ride-out are supplied) 107 - 150 miles
The Vosges Mountains do not seem to get the attention they deserve but once you have ridden the Route des Cretes and Col de la Schlucht I think you will agree that they are amongst the best biking roads in France. The Route des Cretes is a spectacular road which follows the main ridge of the Vosges and includes the highest peak of the range, the Grand Ballon. You can take lunch today at the top of The Grand Ballon which at 1423 metres affords excellent views as far as the Alps.

Day 4: 170 miles
Today’s carefully pre-planned route now takes you into the Black Forest via the Feldberg which at 1493 metres is the highest mountain in Germany outside of the Alps. En-route you make a lunch stop at Lake Titisee before arriving at a biker friendly hotel located deep in the forest. Dependent on availability your next two nights will either be spent in a village location or a small town. All our accommodations in the Black Forest are traditional family run hotels and all are ideally located for you to enjoy everything this stunning area has to offer.

NOTE:
If you do have a preference of hotel location please make note on your booking form.

Day 5: Ride-out 160 miles
A trip to the Black Forest would not be complete without riding the famous B500, a road which surely must have been designed by a biker. With fast sweeping bends, interesting hairpins and fantastic landscapes this area has something for every biker.

Your included ride-out follows the B500 as well as some of the lesser known but equally exciting passes in the area. Along the route you will have time to visit the famous Roman Spa town of Baden-Baden and make a stop at Schonach, home to the world’s biggest cuckoo clock.

Day 6: 210 miles
The Pfalzer and Saar Hunsruck National Parks lie ahead as today you travel north to a traditional family run hotel in the picturesque Moselle-Saar-Ruwer region of Germany.  This heavily forested national park is home to some exceptional biking roads which attract motorcyclists from across Europe.

Day 7: 290 miles
For your final day you first head across country through rural Luxembourg before joining the Belgium motorway system for the last push to Calais and an afternoon crossing back to the UK. Euro Tunnel times are flexible and can be changed to suit individual requirements.
